The St. Petersburg Swans will visit the Miami Saints, Saturday, June 23.

The visiting St. Petersburg Swans will look to take the home-field shine off the Miami Saints, as the sides face off Saturday at Croissant Park in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

Ball up is 1 PM.

The Major League Footy Week 11 clash finds St. Pete heading in with a 5-1 season record, while the Saints are 2-1, but find themselves in the #2 ladder position, thanks to 150% on percentages.

Those stats may not mean much come the final siren, if past history repeats itself – St. Petersburg has not won in South Florida since 2014.

In fact, in the eight games in the ongoing ‘Florida Derby’ Series, the home side has an overwhelming historical advantage, a key reason the series is knotted at 4 wins apiece.

That’s evident even in the first half of the 2018 Major League Premiership Season, as the Swans handily beat the Miami 66-11 on April 14.

While this is the second meeting of the season between the Saints and Swans, Miami held to form in a throttling of the Clearwater Kangas in Ft. Lauderdale – running out 106-28 winners.

Tomorrow’s clash figures to be played in sunny and steamy conditions, with ball-up ‘feels like’ temperatures pushing 100 degrees.

That’s likely to factor in the late-going, especially at Croissant Park’s tight grounds.

A St. Petersburg win will go a long way to keeping the Swans in prime position on the ladder as the season heads into its second half, while a Saints win figures to tighten up the race to the Eastern Conference lead in a big way.

Miami will look to tall Neil Cohen (9.10.64 on the season) to score in bunches, while St. Petersburg will counter with its perimeter speed.

Miami’s ball possession offense has proven capable of pushing the ball downfield consistently, while St. Petersburg comes with a hungry and proven backline anchored by Ken Scheidt.

Croissant Park in Ft. Lauderdale is located at 245 W Park Drive.
