Needing a win to stay comfortably atop the Major League Footy Florida Winter League Ladder, Suncoast  (3-0-0) ended up needing much more. Namely, a miracle.

And, they got just that.

Opening flat, and faced with withering pressure from the Kangas throughout the first term, Ken Scheidt and the Suns managed to reverse what would end up a staggering 7.7.49-0.1.1 deficit at the first break.

They got there by virtue of Clearwater’s missed opportunities, including those seven behinds in the 1st quarter, and a total of twelve the rest of the way.

Guided by the precision passing of wily veteran CJ Morton, the Suns rallied to narrow the gap to 35 at the big break, getting back in a game that had at that point seen the last major from Clearwater.

Despite seemingly countless opportunities in the attack zone after the intermission, the Kangas came up empty the rest of the way, notching a single point in the third quarter as the Suns clawed ahostill the way back to make it a one goal affair.

With Benjamin Walker and Scheidt anchored at forward, Morton kept the pressure on throughout, distributing to Jordan Calero, Danny McDonald  and Nicholas Orr in an offensive barrage unabated until full time.

After a first period offensive outburst nearly a scoring-kick-a-minute, Clearwater was kept out of goal in the second-half, despite the efforts of Dustin Jones, Basil Benjamin and Greg Bray – both solid in the middle. Bray and Joe Caravella were briefly sidelined with injury, with Kangas forward Jake Keglor also dealing with a nagging foot injury.

Nicholas Orr was named Best on Ground.
