HOW THE WEST COULD BE WON

0721-BOMBERS v SCORPIONS

The Phoenix Scorpions (3-1) host the West Side Bombers (1-2) in tomorrow’s MLF Western Conference showdown.

Winners of three on the trot, the Phoenix Scorpions are on the verge of capturing the Major League Footy 2018 Western Conference minor premiership.

Locked in a see-saw battle with the Tombstone Marshals – also 3-1, and ahead in percentages – the Scorpions need only win one of their final two matches to lock up the top of the Conference table.

The quest to lock up the #1 spot begins tomorrow, when the Scorpions tussle with the West Side Bombers (1-2) tomorrow at Tempe Sports Complex in Tempe, Arizona.

Ball-up is 10 AM MST.

Should the Scorpions lose out – they visit the Tempe Devils (0-3) Saturday, July 28 in the Western Conference Summer Series finale – the Marshals stand poised to take the Conference title by default.

In this exciting 2018 MLF Campaign, most anything can happen – so while the Scorps control their own destiny at the moment – a flag for Tombstone is hardly out of the question.

The Eastern Conference has its own drama heading into tomorrow’s matinee twin-bill pitting the Florida Lions and StarfishFC.

A Lions sweep of the double-header would push Florida to a pristine 4-0 and move the Leos into second on the ladder – definitely withing striking range of the table-topping St. Petersburg Swans.

The Swans’ shock 110-100 loss to Tampa Bay Saturday night prevented St. Petersburg from virtually locking up the flag, creating opportunity for Florida, Miami and Tampa Bay in a furious run home.

Game One of the East doubleheader gets under way tomorrow in St. Petersburg at 11 AM EDT.
