GLADOVIC, SCHEIDT POWER SWANS TO PRIDE GAME WIN
In his return from Melbourne, St. Petersburg’s Miro Gladovic
teamed up with Kenneth Scheidt to pace a rejuvenated Swans offense in a 9.8.62 – 3.1.19 thrashing of Orlando in sultry conditions Saturday in St. Pete.
Played as the side’s Inaugural Pride Game, and with 11 AM game time ‘feels like’ temperature of 102 degrees, the Swans came out equally hot.
With Dustin Jones and CJ Morton slicing their way with precision passing, Gladovic (four majors) and Scheidt (three) saw their score sheets get a big boost on the day.
Aaron Crittenden, Matt Elliott, Pat Bilder, Benjamin Walker and Jake Keglor paced an Orlando side that continued a competitive showing on the season, but couldn’t convert opportunities, as Jones and Morton teamed up to successfully flip the field, while Scheidt and Gladovic finished the work up front. The win snapped the Swans’ club-record four-game losing streak.
Racing out to a 22 point lead at the break, the Swans tacked out another five majors in a hurry, as conditions forced an adjustment to 10-minute time on.
Orlando remains a atop the ladder at 2-1, but saw St. Pete (2-4) pull even on points at eight.
Major League Footy game play continues Saturday, July 1 as StarfishFC (1-0) hosts Pasco Blackdog FC (0-0) at 11 AM on the Common at Crescent Lake in St. Petersburg
