Major League Footy is the Florida Winter League of Australian Football

With the first-ever Major League Footy Winter Draft coming Friday, November 11, squad captains from the circuit’s six drafting clubs are preparing to make their 2016-17 winter season selections.

A seventh side, the Florida Redbacks, have a historical protected list and will not draft.

With all eligible players from the Tampa Bay ARFC co-ed player list available for selection, each side will make up to 7 selections, with 10 minutes ‘on the clock’ for each squad. Draft picks can be traded (for additional selections) during the draft.

A supplemental list of players eligible for games but not draft-eligible due to availability, injuries, etc., will be made available to each captain. Each side is able to be assigned a draft-ineligible player. However, on selecting a player from the supplemental list, said side must surrender a drafted player back to the common ‘waiver pool’.

Swans defenseman Basil Benjamin will captain Orlando for the Major League Footy 2016-17 Winter Footy season.
