AROUND MLF: WHAT WE LEARNED IN WEEK 11

AROUND MLF: WHAT WE LEARNED IN WEEK 11

MLFSAINTS STATE THEIR CASE: Week Eleven of the 2018 Major League Footy Premiership Season saw the Miami Saints tighten the Eastern Conference ladder race considerably, after a 51-point rout of the table-topping St. Petersburg Swans at Croissant Park in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

PHOENIX SCORPIONS

Phoenix (1-2) heads into Saturday’s clash with Tempe with a chance to push the Devils (0-2) into the running for the West’s Wooden Spoon.

In highlighting their precision ball-handling game in stifling conditions,

Miami improved to 3-1 on the year, with a solid grip on the #2 spot.

While the Saints have only an April 14 loss to St. Petersburg to blemish their ledger, all three of the side’s wins have been in blowout fashion. Miami has topped the century mark in their last two home games, including a 106-28 demolition of the visiting Clearwater Kangas in April.

SWANS LICK THEIR WOUNDS ON TWO-WEEK BYE: While the result means St. Petersburg will head into a two-week bye on a sour note, the league leaders will be looking to rebound for a July 14 Twlight match with the Tampa Bay Bombers.

BOMBERS, ‘FISH CAN MOVE UP: With the Bombers seeking to make a push into the #3 position on the table this weekend, they’ll need a sweep of Starfish FC to make that happen. Likewise, the ‘Fish have a shot at making the same move. Both sides head into a Saturday matinee twin-bill with identical 1-2 marks.

SCORPS’ EDGE WAY INTO WIN COLUMN: In MLF Western Conference action, the Phoenix Scorpions scratched their way to a two-goal win over the West Side Bombers, equalizing their back-to-back weekend clash, after West Side had taken the first meeting, 90-54. This weekend, Phoenix takes on the Tempe Devils in a 10 AM MST match-up at Tempe Sports Complex.
