Major League Footy is the Florida Winter League of Australian Football.

The 2016-’17 Inaugural Season of the Major League Footy Florida Winter League features competitive matches during the traditional USAFL (and AFL) off-season and a season schedule running from November 19, 2016 thru February 25, 2017.

Comprised of seven sides representing Central Florida communities, each Major League Footy club is a USAFL-recognized ‘metro rules’ side of the St. Petersburg Swans (Tampa Bay ARFC), and all 2016-’17 season players are members of the founding team’s USAFL registered player list.

The league season kicked off November 11, 2016 with the 2016 Winter Footy Draft, which saw appointed captains from each Major League Footy select players from the overall senior list.

The 2016-’17 Major League Footy season began just three weeks after the conclusion of the USAFL ‘regular season’, with the 2016 Winter Footy Draft in St. Petersburg on November 11, 2016.

Negotiating the holiday season, competitive play began November 19, 2016, and resumed for two rounds in early December. Play resumes January 14, 2017 and continues through February, with a Championship Final on February 25.

Major League Footy is the Florida Winter League affiliate of the USAFL. The league is funded and administered by founding club, the St. Petersburg Swans (Tampa Bay ARFC).

For the 2016-’17 season, all Major League Footy matches are played in St. Petersburg, either at the founding club’s normal training and practice ground (The Common at Crescent Lake), or on the Downtown St. Pete waterfront at Flora Wylie Park.

All trainings, practices and competitions are always free, and are open to co-ed players of all ages and skill level.
