At 6-2, the Tampa Bay Bombers are in lead for the MLF minor premiership, pending the results of this weekend’s key ‘Showdown Carnival’ in St. Petersburg.

While the Tampa Bay Bombers – at 6-2 and shock leaders on the MLF ladder – are not one of three sides competing in this weekend’s ‘Showdown Carnival’ in St. Petersburg, they’ll definitely be keenly watching the scoreboard.

Their season may depend on it.

Having rocketed to the top of the table – with a key come-from-behind win over the Swans punctuating their ascent – the Bombers have two key matches remaining of their own, and are not yet clear of the pack.

The Swans, StarfishFC and Florida Lions all have a chance to displace the Bombers from the top rung – or even knock them out of the Top Three.

While a Swans sweep of the Lions and Saints this weekend would move St. Pete to 7-3, icing a berth for the Bloods, two Lions victories could prove more problematic for Tampa Bay.

With both the Bombers and Lions having two matches remaining after this weekend, a combination of Tampa Bay losses, Lions wins *and* at least one win from StarfishFC on the season’s last weekend (September 29) could force the Bombers out of the Finals.

For the Bombers, the scoreboard watch begins this weekend.
